On Jail-breaking iPhones
I’ve always found it amusing when Apple and the world’s hackers play the cat-and-mouse game. Hackers release a jailbreak tool every time Apple release an incremental update to iOS. Apple then plugs it by releasing yet another incremental update. Can we stop this madness? I’ve never fully understood why iPhones need to be jail-broken in the first place! I read a recent article...
Desk - Music and Sound Design
via vimeo.com Interesting short about different desks (workspaces) contrasting busy versus spartan ones and the people that use them. I have to say, I’m in love with the desk of Massimo Vignelli. I’ve always loved the MILK desk, although it’s very very expensive. Posted via email from Jaywalkin’ | Comment »

Principled Leadership
via nydailynews.com “This nation was founded on the principle that the government must never choose between religions or favor one over another. The World Trade Center site will forever hold a special place in our city, in our hearts. Roger Ebert: Why I Hate 3-D Movies
via newsweek.com I think that the great art of story telling can coexist with innovative technologies like 3D movies. Perhaps I’m being naive in disagreeing with someone of Roger Ebert’s stature. I agree on one point: not every movie needs to be in 3D. Even bolder, a movie with a great story will outsell a 3D movie with a mediocre storyline. Similarly, I agree that a flood of 3D...

Seth's Blog: When in doubt, disaggregate
The typical American buys precisely one book a year. Ouch. Of course, this isn’t true, because when it comes to books, there is no typical American. There are a lot of Americans who buy zero books for pleasure each year. And then there are people like me who buy 400. The average is irrelevant. When you can’t figure out the best way to treat all your customers, the best way...

Seth's Blog: Rights and responsibilities
Robert Bookman from the restaurant industry was quoted as saying that it would violate the free speech rights of restaurant owners if they had to post a health department grade of their cleanliness in the window. More and more, businesses and businesspeople talk about their rights. It seems, though, that organizations and individuals that focus more on their responsibilities and less on...
